BI nabs 5 illegal aliens

admin May 10, 2023

THE Bureau of Immigration (BI) reported the arrest of five illegal aliens who are now facing deportation for violating the country’s immigration laws.

Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco said the foreigners – an American, two Indians, a Pakistani and a Vietnamese, were arrested in separate operations conducted by agents of the BI Intelligence Division.

“This is just the start of an intensified campaign by our Bureau to flush out illegal aliens, including those who are staying in far-flung areas of the country,” Tansingco said in a statement.

He urged the public to support the BI’s campaign by reporting the presence of any illegal alien in their neighborhood and communities so they could be arrested, expelled and barred from re-entering the country.

“Foreigners who wantonly violate our immigration laws do not deserve the privilege to stay in our country. They should be deported and blacklisted for being undesirable aliens,” the BI chief added.

BI Intelligence Chief Fortunato Manahan Jr. reported that last April 28, agents arrested in Baguio City an American national identified as Victor Florendo Carpiso, 63, who was found to have overstayed in the country.

Investigation revealed that Carpiso never left the country since 2013 when he last arrived here as a tourist.

Last May 2, BI operatives arrested in Calbayog City, Samar an Indian national named Tejinder Singh, 41, for illegally acquiring a residence visa in the country.

Singh allegedly managed to secure a working visa from the BI through fraud and misrepresentation as the company that purportedly employs him is fictitious.

On May 4, Regional intelligence agents arrested Pakistani Saleem Khan, 29, in Agoo, La Union for overstaying. Also arrested for overstaying the following day, was Indian national Prakash Raj Ramara, 26, in Brgy. Sagpon, in Legazpi, Albay.

Manahan also reported the recent arrest of a Vietnamese national named Tran Van Thung, 26, who was caught selling retail goods at a UV Express Terminal near the SM North mall.

The Vietnamese will be deported for violating the conditions of his stay as a tourist as he had engaged in gainful activity here without the required permit and visa.

All five aliens are facing deportation charges with the BI.
