PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) Chief Police General Rodolfo Azurin Jr lauded the Central Visayas police for its anti-illegal gambling efforts particularly on aggressive operations against E-sabong activities that netted a total of 283 arrested persons from December 5-10, 2022.
Citing reports of Police Brigadier General Roderick Agustus Alba, Regional Director, Police Regional Office 7, Azurin announced the arrest of 283 personalities including 276 gamers, three tellers, two referees and two operators during 6-day relentless police operations against E-sabong in Central Visayas.
According to Azurin, during the police operations, operatives confiscated gambling bets amounting to P155,779.00, eight computers, and 52 cellphones. Police filed 109 cases in court against the arrested individuals.
“The PNP supports PAGCOR in implementing the instructions of President Ferdinand R Marcos Jr to continue enforcing the nationwide suspension of all e-sabong activities and shutdown of all online infrastructure that patronize these illegal activities,” PGen Azurin said.
Azurin reminded all 17 Regional Directors and their respective Provincial Directors, as well as the Director of CIDG to strictly implement his directives on stopping all illegal gambling activities in their respective areas of responsibility.
“Tulong-tulong tayong sugpuin ang mga operasyon ng iligal na pasugalan sa bansa upang mailigtas natin sa pagkakalulong sa sugal ang ating mga kababayan na nabiktima ng e-sabong na ito,” Azurin added.
