THREE persons – two former Army rangers — were arrested in hot pursuit operations conducted by police authorities after the death of Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo and six other people on Saturday.
Police said the three have been arrested en route to Bayawan City in Negros Occidental.
Police are still confirming reports that the gunmen had been promised to receive P10 million as reward for killing Degamo. The gunmen were allegedly from Mindanao and La Castellana, Negros Occidental. One of the ex-Army has allegedly undergone schooling for Close Quarter Battle (CQB).
The gunmen were identified by the police as Joric Labrador, 50 of Cagayan de Oro; Joven Aber, 42, of Brgy. Robles, Banwasang La Castellana, Negros Occidental and Benjie Rodriguez, of Misamis Occidental.
The vehicles used in the killing were recovered by authorities abandoned in secluded area not far from the house of Degamo.
