THE Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), through its Migrant Workers Office (MWO) and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Office in Hong Kong (HK), is closely monitoring the condition of two overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who were injured during yesterday’s heavy rainstorm.
The two OFWs, a married couple working for a resort owner in Sai Kung, New Territories, Hong Kong, were taking photos and videos of the storm’s damage to the facility when a landslide occurred.
Both were immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The wife sustained head injuries but is in stable condition. She remains in hospital for further observation, while her husband suffered leg injuries and is currently undergoing an operation.
The DMW-MWO-OWWA has provided initial financial assistance to the couple and will continue monitoring their condition.
DMW Head Office will issue further bulletins on their condition as these develop.
