A 16-year-old boy was arrested in Pasig City on Friday after authorities seized shabu and marijuana worth a total of P1.32 million from him. Police, who identified the suspect only as “Ken,” apprehended him during a controlled buy-bust operation conducted at approximately 3 a.m. in Barangay Pinagbuhatan.
According to Brig. Gen. Aden Lagradante, director of the Eastern Police District, the teenager had been under surveillance for some time after being identified as a high-value individual involved in the drug trade. The operation resulted in the confiscation of 191.1 grams of shabu, with an estimated street value of P1.3 million, and 15.8 grams of dried marijuana leaves valued at P23,700.
Following his arrest, Ken was immediately turned over to the Pasig City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO).
The involvement of a minor in such a significant drug operation highlights ongoing concerns about the vulnerability of young people to exploitation within illegal drug networks.
Authorities are expected to conduct a thorough investigation into Ken’s activities and his connections to larger drug trafficking operations.
The case underscores the continuing challenge of combating drug-related crime and protecting minors from involvement in such illicit activities. Further details regarding the investigation and any potential charges against the suspect are expected to be released in due course.
