TROPICAL Depression “Jacinto” has left the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and is now moving towards Vietnam, the state weather bureau PAGASA announced Thursday afternoon. Jacinto, packing maximum sustained winds of 45 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 55 km/h, exited the PAR at 5 p.m.
Pagasa forecasts that Jacinto will track west northwestward over the West Philippine Sea, heading towards northern or central Vietnam, where it is expected to make landfall on Saturday afternoon or evening.
While Jacinto has left the PAR, its trough will continue to bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan, Isabela, Zambales, and Bataan. Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms are expected over the rest of Cagayan Valley and Central Luzon.
The Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) will also influence weather conditions in Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, Occidental Mindoro, and Palawan. Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the Habagat.
Pagasa has warned of potential flash floods and landslides due to these weather systems. Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough coastal waters are expected in Northern Luzon, the western sections of Central Luzon, Southern Luzon, and Visayas. The rest of Luzon and Visayas will experience moderate winds and coastal water conditions. Mindanao will have light to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal waters.
