admin July 17, 2025

TROPICAL Depression ‘Crising’ maintained its strength as of 4:00 PM today, July 17, 2025, while meandering over the sea east of Aurora.

The center of the tropical depression was estimated to be 335 km northeast of Virac, Catanduanes, or 545 km east of Baler, Aurora (15.4°N, 126.7°E). ‘Crising’ packs maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center, with gusts reaching up to 70 km/h, and a central pressure of 1000 hPa. It is moving west-northwestward at 30 km/h. Strong winds extend outwards up to 500 km from the center.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1 remains in effect for several areas in Luzon, indicating a potential threat of strong winds. These areas include Batanes, Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, Isabela, Quirino, parts of Nueva Vizcaya, parts of Aurora, Abra, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, parts of Benguet, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, parts of La Union, Polillo Islands, Camarines Norte, and parts of Camarines Sur, and Catanduanes.

The potential impacts of these winds are currently assessed as minimal to minor threats to life and property. Residents in these areas are advised to monitor weather updates and take necessary precautions.

The westward movement of ‘Crising’ warrants continued monitoring as its path and intensity could still affect a wider area in the coming days. Further updates will be provided as the situation develops. Residents in the affected areas are urged to stay informed through official weather channels and heed any advisories issued by local authorities.
