Several areas in Luzon brace for monsoon rains

admin July 27, 2025

SEVERAL areas in Luzon are expected to experience rainfall on Monday, July 28, primarily due to the influence of the southwest monsoon, or habagat, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

Pagasa weather specialist Veronica Torres highlighted that a significant portion of Luzon is anticipated to receive rainfall, specifically targeting Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, Laguna, Batangas, Cavite, Rizal, and Mimaropa.

These regions are expected to be most directly affected by the monsoon’s prevailing weather patterns. The forecast underscores the continued impact of the habagat on various parts of the island.

While the monsoon is expected to bring rain to a substantial portion of Luzon, Pagasa forecasts more favorable weather conditions for other areas.

Torres indicated that Quezon Province and the Bicol Region are likely to experience fairer weather conditions. However, she cautioned that the possibility of localized thunderstorms remains, advising residents in these regions to remain vigilant and monitor weather updates.

The contrasting forecast highlights the localized nature of the monsoon’s effects, with some areas experiencing significant rainfall while others enjoy relatively clearer skies, albeit with the potential for sudden, localized thunderstorms.
