A LOW pressure area (LPA) last tracked 1,070 kilometers east of northeast Mindanao will likely enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility within the day, the weather bureau said Monday.

“It is likely to develop into a tropical depression in one to two days,” Obet Badrina of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

He added that at present, the LPA has no direct effect on any part of the country.

The southwest monsoon, enhanced by severe Tropical Storm Talim (formerly known as Dodong) may bring significant amount of rain showers within the next two days over a huge part of the archipelago.

This will cause occasional rains over Zambales, Bataan and Occidental Mindoro.

Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are also forecast over Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, the rest of Mimaropa, the rest of Central Luzon and Western Visayas.

Scattered to widespread rains, and moderate to at times heavy rains may result in flash floods or landslides, according to Pagasa.

The rest of the country will experience isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas will prevail over Luzon and the western section of Visayas.

Rough to very rough seas may be experienced over the western seaboard of Central Luzon, and the western seaboards of Northern and Southern Luzon.

Rough seas will prevail over the northern seaboard of Northern Luzon and the southern seaboard of Southern Luzon.

Pagasa advised fishing boats and other small sea vessels are not to venture into the sea, and larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas, Pagasa said.
