THE Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) is closely monitoring a low pressure area (LPA) that developed outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
Pagasa’s weather specialist Obet Badrina said on Sunday the LPA has yet to directly affect the country.
“We are not yet sure if this LPA, estimated some 2,045 kilometers east of north-eastern Mindanao, would escalate into a tropical depression and enter PAR,” Badrina said.
He said the shear line where the hot and cold air converge is affecting Central Luzon.
In particular, it is bringing overcast skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in Aurora, Quezon, Rizal, Laguna and Camarines Norte.
The northeast monsoon locally called “amihan” is affecting areas in Northern Luzon including Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region and Cagayan Valley where partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains may prevail.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
