THE low pressure area earlier spotted east of Aparri, Cagayan has developed into a tropical depression (TD) on Sunday morning and is now called “Florita,” state weather bureau PAGASA said.
In a Facebook post, PAGASA said the LPA became a tropical depression at 8 a.m. on Sunday.
Landfall is possible in Northern Luzon and may bring rains in the coming days.
In its 4 a.m. weather bulletin, the weather bureau said the LPA was spotted 755 kilometers east of Aparri, Cagayan.
It said the tropical depression will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in Bicol Region and the provinces of Quezon, Marinduque, Romblon, Samar and Biliran.
Residents in these areas are warned against possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains, it added.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have fair weather with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms.
Visayas, Mindanao, Palawan, and the rest of Luzon will experience light to moderate winds with slight to moderate coastal waters.
