Heavy rains forecast across Luzon, Western Visayas due to Habagat

Metrosundaily August 18, 2026

STATE weather bureau PAGASA issued Weather Advisory No. 67 at 11:00 a.m. on August 18, 2026, warning of continued heavy rainfall across large parts of Luzon and the Western Visayas due to the enhanced Southwest Monsoon or Habagat.

From today through noon on August 19, the provinces of Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, and Occidental Mindoro are expected to receive 100–200 mm of rain, while Metro Manila, La Union, Benguet, Pangasinan, Ilocos Sur, Abra, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Laguna, Rizal, Oriental Mindoro, and Antique may see 50–100 mm of precipitation.

The heavy rains will persist through the coming days. From noon on August 19 to noon on August 20, Benguet, La Union, Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro remain under the highest rainfall bracket of 100–200 mm, while Ilocos Sur, Abra, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Metro Manila, Cavite, Batangas, and Rizal continue to expect 50–100 mm. From noon on August 20 through noon on August 21, rainfall will gradually shift northward, with Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Abra, La Union, Benguet, Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro forecast to receive 50–100 mm.

PAGASA cautioned that actual rainfall amounts could be higher in mountainous and elevated areas, while impacts may be worsened by rain-soaked ground from earlier showers. Local disaster risk reduction offices are urged to take all necessary precautions to protect life and property, including pre-emptive evacuations in flood-prone and landslide-prone areas. Regional PAGASA offices may also issue separate Heavy Rainfall Warnings and Thunderstorm Advisories as conditions warrant in their respective areas. DOST PAGASA
