‘Ester’ exits PAR, heavy rains to continue

admin July 31, 2022

TROPICAL depression Ester exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) but the southwest monsoon or “habagat” will continue to bring rains in most parts of the country, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

In its 4 a.m. bulletin, the weather bureau said “Ester” was estimated at 795 kilometers east northeast of Itbayat, Batanes with maximum sustained winds of 45 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 55 kph while moving northward at 20 kph.

Pagasa said Metro Manila, Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro and Palawan will experience monsoon rains due to “habagat”.

Southwest monsoon will also bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms Visayas, Bicol Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, and the rest of Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, and Mimaropa.

The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to southwest monsoon or thunderstorms.

The weather bureau warned that possible flash floods or landslides may occur due to scattered to widespread to at time heavy rains.

It said light to moderate winds heading west to southwest will blow over extreme Northern Luzon while the entire country will have slight to moderate coastal waters.

The temperature will range from 26.2°C to 29.0°C.
