‘Crising’, monsoon bring heavy rains to the country

THE Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) issued a heavy rainfall warning on July 17, 2025, for several regions in the country due to the combined effects of Tropical Cyclone CRISING and the Southwest Monsoon. The warning covers several areas and periods with varying rainfall amounts.

Heavy Rainfall Outlook (Tropical Cyclone CRISING):

  • July 17-18: Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, and Catanduanes (100-200 mm); Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Aurora, Quezon, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Samar, and Biliran (50-100 mm).
  • July 18-19: Cagayan, Apayao, and Ilocos Norte (>200 mm); Batanes, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Abra, Benguet, Ilocos Sur, La Union, and Pangasinan (100-200 mm); Ifugao, Isabela, Quirino, and Nueva Vizcaya (50-100 mm).
  • July 19-20: Ilocos Norte (100-200 mm); Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Apayao, Abra, Benguet, and Cagayan (50-100 mm).

Heavy Rainfall Outlook (Southwest Monsoon):

  • July 17-18: Occidental Mindoro and Antique (>200 mm); Palawan, Iloilo, Guimaras, and Negros Occidental (100-200 mm); Metro Manila, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Aklan, Capiz, Negros Oriental, Siquijor, Cebu, Zamboanga del Norte, Lanao del Norte, and Lanao del Sur (50-100 mm).
  • July 18-19: Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, Palawan, and Antique (100-200 mm); Metro Manila, Tarlac, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Rizal, Laguna, Oriental Mindoro, Romblon, Aklan, Iloilo, Guimaras, Negros Occidental, and Negros Oriental (50-100 mm).
  • July 19-20: Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro (100-200 mm); Metro Manila, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, Batangas, Rizal, Laguna, Palawan, Oriental Mindoro, Romblon, Antique, Iloilo, Guimaras, and Negros Occidental (50-100 mm).

PAGASA warns that rainfall amounts may be higher in mountainous and elevated areas, and impacts may be worsened by prior rainfall. The public and disaster risk reduction and management offices are urged to take necessary precautions to protect life and property. PAGASA Regional Services Divisions may issue additional warnings as needed.
