THE northeast monsoon, locally known as “amihan,” resurfaced and is affecting extreme Northern Luzon, the state-run weather agency said on Thursday.
It may continue to affect wider areas in the coming days before disappearing “probably” in the middle of March, weather specialist Benison Estareja of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
He said they have not monitored any weather disturbance inside or outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility at least until over the weekend
Pagasa said the easterlies — winds coming from the east that pass through the Pacific Ocean and carry humid and warm weather — are affecting the Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
Along with the localized thunderstorms, the easterlies are bringing isolated rain showers and thunderstorms in these areas, including Metro Manila within the next 24 hours, the state weather bureau said.
