TYPHOON Julian is now nearing super typhoon strength, packing winds of 175 kph with gusts up to 215 kph. At 7:00 a.m., it was located over the coastal waters of Balintang Island in Calayan, Cagayan.
The same areas remain under Wind Signals No. 4 and 3 but the northern portions of Ilocos Sur, Abra, and Kalinga have been placed under Wind Signal No. 2.
The eyewall of #JulianPH will continue to graze Batanes and Babuyan Islands, with a landfall remaining possible. #JulianPH may reach super typhoon intensity at the onset of its recurvature early Tuesday or earlier. It will make landfall over southern Taiwan Wednesday and exit PAR for good on Thursday.
