IN the realm of the Premier Volleyball League, Creamline stands as a titan, their legacy etched in championship glory.

Yet, even titans have moments of vulnerability, as evidenced by their recent clash against the Choco Mucho Flying Titans.

On a dramatic Tuesday evening at the packed Philsports Arena, Creamline’s unbeaten streak against their sister team finally met its end after a marathon battle that left fans on the edge of their seats.

The absence of Tots Carlos, a cornerstone of Creamline’s success with her impressive track record, was keenly felt. The three-time Conference MVP and Finals MVP was notably absent, away in South Korea for the KOVO tryouts, leaving a void in the team’s lineup.

The question loomed: Would Creamline falter without one of its key players?

Alyssa Valdez, herself a luminary in local volleyball, acknowledged Carlos’ absence but emphasized the team’s reliance on their system.

“We always train as a team… We run in a system,” she remarked.

Despite the absence, Creamline showcased their depth and resilience.

Players like Jema Galanza, Michele Gumabao, and Jeanette Panaga stepped up admirably, delivering stellar performances.

However, it was Choco Mucho who ultimately prevailed in a grueling five-set showdown, proving their mettle and handing Creamline a rare defeat.

Reflecting on the loss, Valdez lamented the missed opportunities and lapses that cost them the game, particularly after seizing a commanding two-set lead.

“We can’t end with just two sets… That’s one of our biggest lessons today,” she conceded.

With little time to dwell, Creamline’s focus turns to rectifying their mistakes and regrouping for the next challenge.

As Valdez emphasized, practice would be crucial in addressing the lapses and fine-tuning their game plan for the upcoming matches. pvl.ph
