LAS Piñas City Rep. Camille Villar joined Senators Cynthia and Sen. Mark Villar to formally open the second Villar Cup, a sports activity aimed at improving the well-being of Las Piñeros and promoting camaraderie and sportsmanship among the youth.
“Ang Villar Cup ay isang espesyal na okasyon na nagdadala ng kasiyahan at pag-asa sa ating mga puso… Ang sports ay isa sa mga paraan upang mapanatili natin ang ating kabutihan sa lahat ng aspeto ng buhay,” Rep. Camille said in her opening remarks.
Villar also thanked athletes Deanna Wong, Aby Maraño, Ara Galang, and Beau Belga for joining the opening ceremonies, commending them for being good role models for the youth.
The basketball and volleyball leagues are participated in by children and young adults aged 12 to 25 years old from the city’s 20 barangays. After the opening ceremonies, elimination games are held around courts of Las Piñas until the Grand Championship, where the top winners will be awarded at the Villar Coliseum.
Now on its second year, the event has become one of the highly anticipated activity among the residents of Las Piñas.
