A TOTAL of 18 teams had already secured berths going to the PSL National Finals, led by the regional champions from the National Capital Region, Luzon and Mindanao.
Six more squads are going to join them in a week’s time when the Pilipinas Super League stages its Visayas Regional Finals slated June 27 to July 1 in Cebu City.
The Visayas Regional Finals is the last qualifying event for the National Finals as the PSL had just wrapped up tournaments in the NCR, Luzon and Mindanao. Just recently, six teams were able to secure seats to the National Finals that will be held at the Victoria Sports Center, among them were division champions Cavite (Born 2008), Pangasinan (Born 2006) and Tarlac (Born 2004), which will also be joined in the next phase of the ladder by teams of Pampanga, which all ended up second place in all divisions.
Other teams which had already moved on to qualify for the National Finals to be held from July 7 to 11 were: National Capital Region – Caloocan (champion, Born 2008), Manila-UST (champion, Born 2006) and Caloocan (champion, Born 2004) as well as runner-ups teams from Manila-UST (Born 2008 at Born 2004). Mindanao – Davao City (champion, Born 2008), Misamis Oriental (runner-up, Born 2008), Misamis Oriental (champion, Born 2006), Tagum City (runner-up, Born 2006), Davao Occidental (champion, Born 2004) and Davao City (runner-up, Born 2004).
Former PBA star and current Cebu City Vice Mayor Dondon Hontiveros has been delegated deputy commissioner and tasked to oversee the matches in the Visayas Regional Finals that will be participated in by teams from Bacolod, Siquijor, Cebu North, Cebu South, Danao, Ormoc at Tacloban, all of which playing in the Born 2008 and Born 2006 divisions.
Five teams are seeing action in the Born 2004 division and they are Bacolod, Siquijor, Cebu North, Cebu South and Danao.
