JAPANESE head coach Taka Minowa of Nxled, fresh from navigating his team through their inaugural conference, is already tipping his hat to the formidable potential embodied by outside hitter Ivy Lacsina.
In the aftermath of a gripping clash against Petro Gazz, where Nxled exhibited their mettle in a hard-fought battle, Minowa couldn’t contain his admiration for Lacsina’s prowess.
“Actually, she has a lot of potential. She can be one of the best players in the Philippines and also I can say in the Asian level,” remarked Minowa.
In a game that tested the Chameleons’ resilience, Lacsina emerged as the beacon of hope, delivering a career-defining display with 28 points to her name. Her repertoire included 21 blistering attacks, complemented by four formidable blocks and three aces.
Yet, it wasn’t merely her offensive prowess that drew praise; her defensive contributions were equally commendable, with nine excellent receptions and eight impeccable digs.
Despite the accolades, Minowa remains grounded in his assessment, acknowledging that Lacsina’s journey to greatness requires steadfast consistency and unwavering focus.
“Sometimes good, sometimes bad, she’s still young and I understand because young players are like that,” he mused.
Moreover, Minowa, drawing from his wealth of experience and insight, emphasized the importance of self-belief in Lacsina’s pursuit of her aspirations.
“Hopefully, she can understand how much potential she has. She can do anything. Pass, dig, attack, block, I hope she trusts her potential,” he asserted.
For Lacsina, the road to realizing her dreams of playing abroad is still a journey in progress.
“Syempre sobrang, sobrang layo pa po. Kakasimula ko lang po sa pro eh, syempre hindi naman yun agad agad,” she acknowledged. pvl.ph
