SENATOR Ramon “Bong” Revilla has co-sponsored Senate Bill No. 2792, an Act Enhancing the Financial Literacy of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), on Monday, September 9, 2024.
Revilla emphasized the importance of equipping OFWs with financial knowledge and skills to manage their earnings, resources, investments, and remittances effectively.
“Financial literacy is a powerful tool that will keep every OFW protected,” Revilla stated. “This will equip them with the necessary knowledge and skills to manage their earnings, resources, investments, remittances.”
The proposed bill includes a Mandatory Financial Literacy Training Seminar, which Revilla believes will be instrumental in guiding OFWs towards responsible financial management.
“When the day comes, when they look back on what they have been through and what they have worked hard for, isn’t it nice to think that we are partners so that they can have proper shelter, education for their family and enough foundation to give them a chance to live a comfortable, happy life with nothing else to worry about?” Revilla asked.
The bill aims to empower OFWs to make informed financial decisions, ensuring their financial well-being and securing a brighter future for themselves and their families.
