THE youngest son of the mayor of Santa, Ilocos Sur died in a head-on collision involving a big bike and SUV along a road in the municipality.
CCTV footage showed victim Jerome Jesus Bueno IV riding a motorcycle before crashing into an oncoming vehicle.
Bueno also served as a barangay chairperson, according to a report of CJ Torida for GMA Regional TV “One North Central Luzon” on “Saksi” on Tuesday.
“Hindi niya napansin na ‘yung kasalubong niya na sasakyan, SUV. Nagkaroon ng head-on collision. ‘Yung katawan niya medyo nalamog kaya ‘yun siguro ang reason kung bakit siya namatay,” said Santa Police Station Chief Police Captain Mark Bryan Corpuz.
(He did not notice the incoming SUV, causing a head-on collision.)
Mayor Jesus Bueno Jr. expressed grief over his son’s death but said their family would not press charges against the SUV driver.
“Bilang ama masakit ‘yung kalooban ko. Siya ang youngest, eh future public servant too sana. Nagpapasalamat po sa lahat nang nakikiramay sa amin,” the mayor added.
(This is painful for me as a father. He was our youngest child and could have been a public servant. I thank everyone who expressed condolences.)
