OPERATIVES of Nueva Vizcaya Police Provincial Office (NVPPO) are still investigating whether the white Mitsubishi Adventure getaway car in the ambush of Aparri Vice Mayor Rommel Alameda was the van discovered burned in Brgy. Uddiawan, Solano, Nueva Vizcaya.
PNP spokesperson Colonel Jean Fajardo said they are checking the registration number of the vehicle to identify its owner.
Based on initial investigation, at least six persons carried out the attack in Sitio Kinacao, Barangay Baretbet on Sunday.
They were on board a white Mitsubishi Adventure with government plate SFN713 when they carried out the attack. They blocked the road and waited for the vice mayor’s car. However, the license plate was later traced to a pickup truck of Nueva Vizcaya State University.
“At nung atin pong imbestigahan ay lumalabas po na matagal na pong naka-junk itong sasakyan na ito at in fact nandoon po sa compound ng state university, at malamang ay ninakaw po ito at ginamit ng mga suspek para iligaw po yung investigation po,” Fajardo said in interview.
The perpetrators later took the firearms inside Alameda’s vehicle.
The other victims were identified as Alexander Agustin Delos Angeles, Alvin Dela Cruz Abel, Abraham Dela Cruz Ramos, John Duane Banag Almeda, and Ismael Nanay.
Philippine National Police chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. has ordered a thorough investigation to determine the persons behind the planned attack.
Meanwhile, Police Regional Office 2 acting director Brig. Gen. Percival Rumbaoa said that the killers are not members of the PNP.
