TWO separate fires that struck residential areas in Antipolo City and Cainta, Rizal on Sunday morning resulted in three fatalities and three injuries.
According to a report by Carlo Mateo on Super Radyo dzBB, the first fire broke out at 6:42 a.m. inside the Valley View Executive Village in Barangay Muntingdilaw, Antipolo City.
The blaze, which reached the first alarm, destroyed two houses on Amethyst Street near the city’s border with Cainta. Antipolo City Fire Marshal Fire Senior Inspector Edilmyr Viray confirmed that two residents perished in the fire. The fire was extinguished at 7:35 a.m.
A second fire, also reaching the first alarm, occurred simultaneously on Garnet Street in the Greenpark Village, Barangay Isidro, Cainta.
This fire claimed the life of a woman who reportedly re-entered the burning house to retrieve a laptop computer but was unable to escape. Two other family members were injured in this incident, along with one firefighter who sustained a hand injury.
The identities of the victims have not yet been released, pending an ongoing arson investigation. Authorities are currently working to determine the cause of both fires.
The three injured individuals are receiving medical treatment, with the extent of their injuries still being assessed. The tragic events underscore the importance of fire safety precautions and the devastating consequences of residential fires.
