POLICE are on alert following the twin blasts happened in Isabela City in Basilan province on Monday.
However, reports said the first explosion was dismissed to have been caused by faulty electrical wiring.
Brig. Gen. Domingo Gobway, commander of Joint Task Force Basilan, said the first explosion inside a fast food restaurant along Plaza Rizal, Isabela City, around 5:40 p.m. was caused by faulty electrical wiring.
In his radio program, Richard Falcatan, DXNO Manager said the explosion occurred at the rear portion of the fast food chain.
“No one was reported to be injured although the establishment sustained minor damage (in its facilities), such as the CCTV,” Falcatan said in a radio program.
Another explosion happened around 6:15 pm., at the Biel Compound at Valderosa Street, Barangay La Piedad of the city, just about 800 meters away from the fast food outlet, where the first explosion occurred.
A truck parked nearby was badly damaged and injured two people.
Uso Dan, the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer (CDRRMO) of Isabela City asked residents to stay at home. “We don’t know yet what type of explosion this is but we are asking city residents not to panic while we make sure everything is in control,” he said.
