POLICE reported at least 17 people dead, including children, in a collision between a van and a dump truck in Antipas, Cotabato on Monday
Report said the van caught fire and was dragged after getting hit by the truck which was carrying sand.
The truck driver reportedly lost control when rig lost its brakes. There were children among those who were killed in the accident. Those injured have been brought to the hospital.
In another incident, a conductor died while 22 were hurt in a collision between a passenger bus and a container van in Monkayo, Davao de Oro.
An investigation showed the bus driver rear-ended the container van after failing to notice the parked vehicle.
The container van stopped on the inner side of the road after encountering engine problems.
The injured victims were rushed to hospital.
Police are still investigating the case to determine who was liable between the two drivers, both of whom were in police custody.
