A 24-year old rape suspect was arrested by police in Bacolod City on Monday.
PNP Chief Police General Dionardo Carlos identified the suspect as Darwin Cabis, laborer and a resident of Brgy. Libot, Calinog, Iloilo.
Citing reports from Police Brigadier Flynn Dongbo, PRO6 Regional Director, Carlos said a joint operation by personnel of Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Iloilo PFU (Lead Unit), CIDG Negros PFU, CIDG RSOT 6, PS2-Bacolod CPO, PIU-Iloilo PPO, 606th Regional Mobile Force Battalion 6 and Regional Intelligence Division 6 was conducted at around 10:30 AM in Gatuslao St., Barangay 6, Bacolod City which resulted in the arrest of the suspect.
According to Carlos, Cabis who ranked No. 7 Most Wanted Person-Provincial Level was arrested by virtue of a Warrant of Arrest issued by Hon. Redentor Eugenio Esperanza, Assisting Judge, RTC Branch 76, Janiuay, Iloilo for the crime of Rape (3 counts) docketed under Criminal Case Numbers 21-1158 to 1160, with no bail recommended; and Warrant of Arrest for the violation of RA 7610, docketed under Criminal Case Number 21-1161, with recommended bail of P200,000.00.
The accused was brought to CIDG Negros PFU office and subsequently brought to CIDG Iloilo PFU office for proper disposition.
“Sa kabila ng kinakaharap nating “new normal” dulot ng kasalukuyang pandemya, ang Pambansang Pulisya ay hindi tumitigil sa pagbibigay proteksyon at pagpapatupad ng batas upang mabigyan ng hustisya ang biktima ng krimen, pang-aabuso at tuluyang papanagutin ang nagkasala sa batas,” Carlos said.
