A MAGNITUDE 5.0 earthquake hit east of the City of Masbate, Masbate province early Saturday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported.
The quake, with a depth of 15 kilometers and tectonic in origin, occurred at 3:22 a.m.
The earthquake was felt by residents in several areas, namely:
Intensity V – Masbate City
Intensity III – Legazpi City, Albay; Irosin and Sorsogon City, Sorsogon
Intensity II – Aroroy, Masbate
Damage may have occurred, the agency reported, and aftershocks should be expected.
Meanwhile, a magnitude 5.2 earthquake hit west of Bulan town in Sorsogon early Saturday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported.
The earthquake struck at 3:22 a.m. with a depth of 27 kilometers was tectonic in origin.
