SWIFT police action and intensified intelligence-operations of Cagayan de Oro City police led to the arrest of two suspects in the killing of a delivery rider and rape of a woman.
Reports disclosed that a police follow-up team arrested the suspects while conducting a hot pursuit operation at the San Roque, Lapasan on July 17 in connection with a stabbing incident that led to the death of delivery rider Cris Semaña, 24, and to the rape of girlfriend.
Police Lieutenant General Vicente D Danao Jr identified the suspect as ERWIN ADAME, 35, of Tabaco, Barangay Puntod, who was arrested on July 17 at around 10:30 p.m. at Brgy. Lapasan, Cagayan de Oro City.
A second suspect, identified as DANIEL PELIGRINO, 33 yrs old, single, and a resident of St. John Puntod, CDOC and a close friend of Adame was also arrested on July 19 after continuous follow-up operations and in-depth investigation.
Peligrino was identified in a police line-up by the slain victim’s girlfriend as the person who raped her during the attack on Semaña.
“I would like to commend the men and women of the Cagayan de Oro police office for their quick response to the case which resulted to the arrest of the suspects. As what we have promised to the families of the victims we will give justice to them,” Danao added.
Follow-up operations are underway to arrest a third suspect while the two arrested suspects are detained at the police station for further investigation and filing of cases.
