A POLICE officer died in an encounter after allegedly robbing a convenience store in Bulacan on Monday night.
According to initial investigations, the suspect entered the store in Barangay Sta. Rosa I, Marilao, and pretended to be a customer.
After a few moments, he allegedly pulled out a gun and declared a hold-up.
The suspect took P20,000 from the convenience store’s sales and fled on a motorcycle towards Barangay Loma de Gato.
During a hot pursuit operation by the Marilao police, the suspect’s motorcycle was intercepted, but he allegedly suddenly pulled out a gun and fired at the authorities.
The police retaliated, hitting the suspect. He was taken to the hospital but declared dead on arrival.
The suspect held the rank of Captain and held a high position in the Caloocan police.
Authorities are still investigating whether the suspect is involved in a syndicate allegedly involved in a series of robberies at convenience stores in Central Luzon.
