JOINT clearing operations of clandestine marijuana plantations by Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and Police operatives netted P62,000,000 worth of fully grown marijuana plants in Kalinga over the weekend, PNP Officer-In-Charge PLTGEN Vicente D. Danao Jr. announced.
In a statement, PLTGen Danao said combined forces of Tinglayan Municipal Police Station (MPS), PDEU/PIU Kalinga PPO, PDEA-Kalinga, 1503rd RMFB, 1st KPMFC and 2nd KPMFC, Lubuagan MPS, Pasil MPS, Balbalan MPS, and 142SAC, 14SAB, PNP-SAF conducted marijuana eradication from June 24, 2022, 5:00 AM, to June 26, 2022, 5:30PM in Brgy. Buscalan, Brgy. Butbut Proper, and Brgy. Loccong, Tinglayan, Kalinga, that resulted in the discovery, uprooting, and burning of more or less 310,000 pieces of fully grown marijuana plants with an estimated SDP value of P62,000,000 planted in a combined total land area of 25,950 sqm.
However, no cultivator was apprehended during the operation.
“Let me again commend our PNP and PDEA operatives for their unwavering efforts in the massive eradication of cannabis plantations in the mountainous areas of Kalinga. Let us further intensify all efforts to hunt down all those responsible behind the planting and cultivation of these prohibited plants,” PLTGen Danao said.
