THE PNP’s “summer offensive” against the cultivation of the prohibited plants in Luzon continues to gain grounds as Cordillera authorities discovered another clandestine cannabis farm in Kalinga on Monday, Philippine National Police Chief General Dionardo Carlos announced.
In a statement, PGen Carlos said that joint operatives of PDEU, PIU, 1st and 2nd Kalinga PMFC, Tinglayan MPS, Kalinga PPO, 1503rd RMFB15 and PDEA Kalinga conducted clearing operations from 6:00 in the morning of March 28, 2022 to 10:00 in the morning of March 29, 2022 in the mountainous areas of Kalinga that yielded in the discovery of 25,000 fully grown marijuana plants that were planted around 2,500 square meters of land in Brgy Buscalan, Tinglayan, Kalinga.
The said marijuana plants with an estimated standard drug price of P5,000,000.00 were eventually burned on-site by police authorities.
However, no cultivator was apprehended during the said operation.
“I commend our combined forces from the PNP and PDEA as we continue our collaborative efforts to conduct massive marijuana eradication in the mountainous areas of Cordilleras. Let us also intensify our efforts in tracking down those who are responsible behind the planting and cultivation of these illegal substances and put them behind bars,” Carlos said.
