THE Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has rescued 14 individuals on board MBCA Ayoshi Kim Rin 8 in the vicinity waters between Balicasag Island and Panglao, Bohol, yesterday. Upon receiving the information, the Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Balicasag proceeded to the said location and rendered necessary assistance.
The Coast Guard rescue team safely transferred the 12 passengers, one boat captain, and one crew member of the distressed motorbanca to MBCA Nika and Niah Naj.
Afterwards, they towed the half-submerged motorbanca enroute to the coastline of Panglao.
Investigation revealed that the distressed motorbanca malfunctioned and stopped while underway to Panglao, causing it to lose control. They also encountered big waves and strong current which caused damages to the boat.
All rescued individuals, in good physical condition, were turned over to the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Offices (MENRO) Panglao for further assistance.
