PHILIPPINE Airlines confirmed the runway excursion incident on Friday morning at the Mactan-Cebu International Airport, involving its De Havilland Q4000 aircraft.
In a statement, PAL said “We confirm that our Philippine Airlines flight PR2369 experienced a runway excursion upon arrival at Mactan Cebu International Airport in rainy weather at 11:39 AM today, after a flight from Caticlan.”
The PAL Express propjet, registered RP-C5911, veered off the runway, into the grass at the edge of the runway, according to the flag carrier.
“We thank airport authorities and the CAAP for spearheading the towing of the aircraft back into the runway surface.”
29 passengers and four crew members were aboard flight 2P-2369. PAL said all passengers and crew were able to disembark the aircraft safely. No one was injured in the mishap.
PAL’s operations team are already assisting the passengers and will provide further assistance and support as needed.
“We affirm that safety is our top priority and that Philippine Airlines is fully cooperating with the concerned airport and aviation authorities,” the statement said.
“We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the partial blockage of the runway.”
