THE Taytay City Police has scored anew in the campaign against illegal drugs with the seizure of P1.6 million worth of marijuana.
The illegal items were seized on June 23, alongside the arrest of two suspected drug traffickers.
Drug suspects Jomar Vergara, 19, and Edgardo Claudio, 25, were arrested during the operation. They both fall under the category of high-value individual for illegal drugs.
The operation took place inside a subdivision in Brgy. Dolores, Taytay, Rizal.
“This operation stemmed from reliable information that selling of illegal drugs in the area is rampant. Further, the operatives conducted careful intelligence gathering and surveillance that yielded positive result,” PNP OIC Lt. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr. said.
The PNP is now preparing the cases in relation to Republic Act 9165 which will be lodged against the arrested individuals.
“This adds to the ongoing list of police operations that successfully nabbed major drug players and confiscated huge value of illegal drugs,” Danao said.
