A man was killed and another is fighting for his life after a police officer opened fire inside a KTV bar in Brgy. Malasin, Dupax del Norte, Nueva Vizcaya.
The suspect, a 44-year-old Police Senior Master Sergeant and radio operator of the Nueva Vizcaya Police Provincial Office (NVPPO), is now in the custody of the Dupax del Norte PNP after shooting two men at a KTV bar in Brgy. Malasin.
According to PMaj. Nova Lyn Aggasid, Public Information Officer of the NVPPO, in a report to Provincial Director PCol. Jecthopher Haloc, one man died after being shot by the suspect, while another was injured.
PMaj. Aggasid said the suspect arrived at the bar before the victims and reportedly fell asleep. He was awakened by the bar owner and left, but returned and shot the victims.
The 30-year-old former SK Chairman of Mabasa, Dupax del Norte, died after being shot in the head. His 25-year-old companion was shot in the stomach and is currently recovering in the hospital.
The police officer immediately fled the scene on his motorcycle. Police officers found him asleep in a waiting shed in Brgy. Bitnong, where he was arrested and brought to the police station.
Authorities recovered five empty bullet casings from the scene.
PCol. Haloc immediately ordered all chiefs of police in the province to account for their personnel to determine their current assignments.
He personally visited the police officer, who claimed that he was intoxicated and could not remember how or why he committed the crime.
The police officer will face criminal and administrative charges. He is currently in the custody of the Dupax del Norte Police Station.
