More than 13k security personnel safeguard 2,871 voting centers in Central Luzon

admin October 30, 2023

CAMP OLIVAS, City of San Fernando, Pampanga – Over 13,000 security personnel from the Philippine National Police (PNP), Philippine Army (PA), and various law enforcement units have been deployed to manage security at 2,871 voting centers throughout Central Luzon. This operation commenced on October 28, 2023, and will continue through election day, ensuring the secure transfer of ballot boxes to the Municipal COMELEC office.

This dedicated security contingent includes 10,949 PRO3 personnel, 1,494 AFP soldiers, 542 BFP personnel, and 198 coast guards actively stationed at polling precincts, with additional quick reaction forces prepared to respond to any contingencies.

Assuring the people of Central Luzon, PRO3 Regional Director PBGEN JOSE S HIDALGO JR stated that they can vote securely and safely on October 30. In preparation for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE), the entire police force has been placed on full alert status as part of comprehensive security measures.

PBGEN HIDALGO JR reiterated the call for public cooperation to ensure a smooth election process. This includes adherence to security protocols, such as checkpoint operations and enforcement of the Gun Ban, which prohibits the possession, carrying, and transport of firearms and other dangerous weapons. He urged the public to stay vigilant while passing through PNP-COMELEC checkpoints and promptly report any potential irregularities involving police personnel.

As Central Luzon police ready itself for the BSKE, the commitment to security and fairness remains steadfast, ensuring an election day free from threats to peace and order. The collaborative efforts of security personnel and the vigilant public will ensure the success of this important democratic exercise.
