AUTHORITIES in Rodriguez, Rizal have launched a manhunt following the gruesome discovery of a woman’s body concealed inside a refrigerator in an apartment in Barangay San Jose.
The 30‑year‑old victim was found on Wednesday after the apartment owner alerted police to a foul odor and flies coming from the unit, according to a Thursday report from GMA’s 24 Oras. The refrigerator had been covered with a blanket, hiding what investigators later determined was her remains.
The victim had recently moved in as a new tenant, and the landlord last spoke with her on September 9, when she was accompanied by a man who introduced himself as her live‑in partner.
The landlord lost contact with her afterward and grew increasingly concerned. Neighbors reported seeing the woman alive the following morning, September 10, when she accepted a delivery — but that same night, they heard a loud crash, which authorities now believe was the sound of the refrigerator falling as the body was being placed inside.
An autopsy confirmed the victim was strangled, and investigators recovered the rope believed to have been used in the killing. The man who identified himself as her partner is now the prime person of interest in the case and is being actively sought by police. Documents he presented to the landlord, including a driver’s license, have already been found to be fake, raising further questions about his true identity and the circumstances surrounding the crime. Investigators have not yet established a motive.
