A LIVE-IN partner and their daughter tragically lost their lives in a fatal road accident in San Dionisio, Iloilo.
The victims, who were riding a motorcycle, were struck and dragged by an overtaking pickup truck in Barangay Canas.
The couple was on their way to Carles to attend a wake when the incident occurred. The pickup truck, following behind them, attempted to overtake but collided with their motorcycle. The impact of the collision caused the victims, who were not wearing helmets, to be dragged for a horrifying 100 meters.
The live-in partner was declared dead at the scene, while their daughter succumbed to her injuries upon arrival at the hospital.
After the accident, the driver abandoned his pickup truck in Batad and returned to San Dionisio to surrender to the authorities. He claimed that he did not see the motorcycle due to the darkness of the area.
The driver is facing potential charges of reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide.
