SAN Rafael, Bulacan — An IT staff member of third district congressional candidate Victor Silverio, the son of Third District Representative Lorna Silverio, his girlfriend, and a bodyguard were killed in a brazen ambush along Maharlika Highway on Friday afternoon.
The victims were traveling in a black Ford Everest when they were attacked by heavily armed men in two other vehicles, a black Toyota Rav-4 and a Mitsubishi Montero.
The ambush occurred around 3:00 PM in Barangay Capihan, San Rafael.
Bryan Villaflor and his unidentified security personnel died at the scene, while his girlfriend, who also remains unidentified, was pronounced dead on arrival at a nearby hospital. Witnesses reported that the assailants blocked the victims’ path before opening fire with an estimated 50 or more shots. Closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage corroborates this account, showing the suspects firing repeatedly into the Ford Everest, leaving it riddled with bullet holes.
Representative Silverio confirmed the tragic news and stated that Villaflor, a resident of Poblacion, San Ildefonso, was working on her son’s campaign team as their IT manager. The three victims had left Villaflor’s home and were on their way to a supermarket in Baliwag City when the attack took place.
The attackers, who remain at large, alighted from their vehicles and fired upon the victims at close range after the initial barrage of gunfire. Police are currently investigating the incident and reviewing the available CCTV footage to identify the suspects and determine a motive. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and authorities are exploring all possible angles, including political motivations given the victims’ connection to the Silverio family.
The brutal killing has sent shockwaves through the community and raised concerns about the safety of political figures and their associates in the region. Authorities have pledged to bring the perpetrators to justice and are appealing to the public for any information that could aid in the investigation.
