THE Department of Health (DOH) – Ilocos Region (La Union, Pangasinan, Ilocos Sur, Ilocos Norte) successfully achieved the top spot during the “Bayanihan, Bakunahan 3” National Vaccination Days (NVD) conducted from February 10-18, 2022 with a total of 203,502 (97.86%) jabs given out of the 207,954 target.
“The success of the NVD in our region was due to the exceptional efforts of our health workers, especially those at the local level. Even with their immense workloads, stress and risk of infection, they still managed to provide support an extraordinary vaccination effort. Maraming salamat po sa inyong lahat! Para sa inyo pong lahat ang tagumpay na ito!,” Regional Director Paula Paz M. Sydiongco stated.
“Let us not forget our barangay health workers who played key roles in advocating for vaccine acceptance that fostered trust and credibility within communities. Sila ang nakapagbigay sa atin ng malaking tulong upang malaman, marating at mabigyan natin ng bakuna lahat ng mga karapat-dapat na mabakunan,” she emphasized.
Among the provinces that surpassed its NVD targets are Ilocos Sur with 40,422 (121.44%) total number of vaccinated individuals out of the 33,285 total target, followed by Ilocos Norte with 33,122 (110.75%) total jabs given out of the 29,907 targets.
Dagupan City also exceeded its target of 8,077 by providing a total of 9,729 (120,45%).
Pangasinan inoculated a total of 90,336 (89.02%) individuals out of the 101,484 targets while La Union posted a total of 29,893 (84.92%) persons vaxxed from the 35,201 targets.

“The high percentage of vaccination shows that the public’s confidence in the health department’s immunization program is slowly building up. The public’s acceptance of the Covid vaccine will boost their protection and provide the necessary defense against the virus.”
“For the remaining individuals who are not vaccinated, I encourage you to get vaccinated and be protected against the various variants that are spreading in the community. The vaccine is safe and it is free,” Sydiongco stressed.
