ONE hundred more houses will soon rise in Lanao del Sur (LDS) now in Brgy. Pindolunan, Saguiaran, after Minister Atty. Hamid Aminoddin D. Barra of the Ministry of Human Settlements and Development, the Housing Arm of BARMM, and Mayor of Saguiaran Hon. Jalalodin M. Angin led the groundbreaking ceremony on March 20, 2023.
Funded under the General Appropriations Act of the Bangsamoro (GAAB) 2022, the Housing Resettlement Project will be implemented by the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Saguiaran, as per Memorandum of Agreement signed last January 24, 2023.
“I hope that more projects will be built in Lanao del Sur,” Minister Barra said.
He thanked the Bangsamoro Government and Chief Minister Ahod B. Ebrahim for the trust, as well as the LGU of Saguiaran for taking the lead in implementing the project. He is confident that, through the leadership of Mayor Angin, the project will be ein good hands ensuring it benefits the target beneficiaries.
He emphasized that the project is the first to be implemented by the MHSD in LDS through a MOA with the LGU, as the previous projects in the province went through the bidding process and are currently being constructed by private contractors.
Mayor Angin thanked the MHSD, especially Minister Barra for trusting and choosing Saguiaran for the project, then the Bangsamoro Government through the leadership of CM Ebrahim.
“This project will be the first big project under my administration, under my first term as Mayor,” Mayor Angin said, committing his support to implement the project and to monitor its progress.
The MHSD will monitor the project’s progress though the Ministry’s LDS Provincial Office, led by Director Benjamin D. Alangca, EnP, RF. The LDS Provincial Office now monitors the construction of 650 housing units funded under the Bangsamoro Appropriations Act 2020, GAAB 2021-2022 and Special Development Fund 2020.
