AIMEE Paz Lamasan, Vice Mayor of Dueñas, Iloilo, has died following an accidental shooting incident near her residence in Iloilo City on Tuesday. Her death was confirmed Wednesday evening by Dueñas Mayor Robert Martin Pama.
Initial reports of Lamasan’s death circulated in the media, citing unauthorized sources. However, Mayor Pama officially confirmed the news in a social media post on Wednesday evening. “[T]here is no goodbyes between us[.] See you in the next life[.] [I] know we will still be together. [Rest in peace] to my beloved Vice Mayor [Lamasan],” Pama wrote.
According to Lamasan’s live-in partner, Lord Byron Torrecarion, the incident occurred at approximately 7:00 a.m. in the La Paz district of Iloilo City. Torrecarion told local newspaper Panay News that Lamasan was handling her firearm when it accidentally discharged, with a bullet striking her in the stomach.
Lamasan was immediately transported to St. Paul’s Hospital for medical treatment. As of this writing, the exact details leading to her death are still being verified.
