AT least P102. 8 million worth of illegal drugs have confiscated as a result to several drug operations in Cebu City.
Two operations in Luzon yielded P2.7 million of shabu or crystal meth and marijuana leaves, the Philippine National Police said.
PNP’s Public Information Office (PNP-PIO) on Monday reported that 15.1 kilograms of shabu were seized in a series of buy-bust operations last Saturday, April 23 in Cebu City — the biggest operation of which led to the arrest of John Vincent Camion, 24 years old.
Operatives from Cebu City Police and the Police Regional Office – 7 (PRO-7) anti-drug and intelligence units along with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in the area seized 10 kilograms from Camion, estimated to carry a street value of P68 million.
Camion was arrested in Barangay Guadalupe, while three other operations were launched in Barangay Duljo-Fatima and Barangay Mabolo, where three more suspects were arrested.
PNP chief Dionardo Carlos said that based on the reports from PRO-7 regional director Brig. Gen. Roque Eduardo Vega, the operations may result in the unveiling of how illegal drug traders operate in Cebu City and its neighboring areas and provinces in Region VII.
“The recovery of a large quantity of drugs from Camion could lead investigators to a major illegal drugs activity in Central Visayas,” Carlos said.
Meanwhile in Luzon, P2.070 million worth or 300 grams of shabu were obtained by undercover police officers who tried to buy illegal drugs in Barangay Salawag, Dasmariñas City in Cavite.
According to PNP-PIO, suspect Alnor Macarampat and the illegal substance confiscated from him are currently under the custody of the Cavite Provincial Police Office’s Drug Enforcement Unit.
Another operation, this time in Cagayan province, led to the arrest of Romel Macababad, 23, who was arrested on Saturday night in Barangay Alimanao, Penablanca, Cagayan.
