THE Philippine National Police (PNP)’s Regional Office in Calabarzon (PRO 4A) has dismissed from the service the police officer suspected of being behind the disappearance last year of beauty queen Catherine Camilon.
At a press briefing, PRO 4A chief Police Brig. Gen. Paul Kenneth Lucas disclosed that Police Major Allan de Castro, the prime suspect in Camilon’s case, had been dismissed effective January 16.
According to Lucas, the police office reached the decision “following an extensive investigation conducted by our Regional Internal Affairs Service 4A.”
De Castro was dismissed on an administrative case for conduct unbecoming a police officer, in connection with his alleged extramarital relationship with Camilon, a former candidate of Miss Grand International Philippines.
He is facing separate criminal charges of kidnapping and serious illegal detention complaints, along with aide Jeffrey Magpantay, and two John Does in connection with Camilon’s disappearance.
As for locating the missing woman, “we are hoping for the best but expecting the worst,” said Criminal Investigation and Detection Group 4A deputy chief Police Major Nilo Morallos.
He said that based on the accounts of witnesses, there was little chance that the beauty queen was still alive.
Camilon went missing in October last year.
