THE Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) seized P349 million worth of counterfeit footwear and manufacturing equipment in two separate operations in Pampanga.
The raids targeted warehouses allegedly producing fake Crocs footwear.
CIDG Director Maj. Gen. Robert Morico II said that operatives from the Pampanga Provincial Field Unit, accompanied by representatives from Crocs Inc., served search warrants on February 26 at two warehouses within the Golden Haojia Industrial Compound in Barangay Balucuc, Apalit.
Although the subject of the search warrants was not present during the operations, local village officials witnessed the proceedings. Authorities confiscated a total of 1,166 boxes containing alleged trademark-infringing Crocs footwear.
In addition to the counterfeit footwear, the CIDG operatives also seized four units of heavy machinery, assorted paraphernalia, and other equipment used in the manufacturing process. Morico emphasized the state’s policy to protect intellectual property rights and creations, particularly those that benefit the public.
