CAMP BGEN PANTALEON GARCIA, Imus City, Cavite- One was killed while seven were missing when a suspended steel bridge collapsed in Dasmariñas City, Cavite, on Tuesday night.
Citing Dasmariñas City Administrator Ariel San Gabriel, the report said the incident happened around 8 p.m. on Tuesday and reported to authorities around 9:30 p.m.
Based on initial information, 13 people, most of them youngsters, were on the bridge at Tabing Ilog Sitio Talisayan, Brgy Sampaloc 4 Dasmarinas City, Cavite when it collapsed. Five survived the incident.
One victim identified as John Michael Beltran, 17, was rescued during a search and retrieval operation and rushed to the said hospital but declared dead by the attending physician.
Five victims identified as Jeralden Pacia y Apas, 16 yeras old, student; Lester Neri y Ramirez, 16 years old; Generos Pacia y Zena, 16 years old,; Danica Uy y Mangaoang, 12 years old, are residents of Sitio Talisayan, Dasmarinas City, Cavite; and Lyka Briones y Armentano, 18 years old, student and a resident of Sitio Nayon, Brgy Sampaloc 4, Dasmariñas City, Cavite sustained injuries on the different parts of their bodies, and immediately brought to Pagamutan ng Dasmarinas for medical treatment. Seven were still missing and or unrecovered.
Search operations for the seven missing persons were ongoing as of Wednesday morning. The area, located at Barangay Sampaloc, has been cordoned off.
