AUTHORITIES have recovered the body of a 6-year-old child who was among the passengers of a van swept away by flash floods during heavy rains on Sunday evening, February 9, in Inagawan Sub, Puerto Princesa South National Highway, Puerto Princesa, Palawan.
Search and rescue operations are ongoing for the child’s parents, Jamal Nasad, the driver, and Evelyn Nasad.
The family was reportedly traveling in the van when it was submerged by raging floodwaters caused by the heavy rains.
The van was en route to Puerto Princesa from Rio Tuba, Bataraza, carrying 12 passengers. Other passengers have been rescued.
Palawan and Oriental Mindoro experienced chest-deep flooding in many areas due to the combined effects of a shear line and the Northeast Monsoon (Amihan).
