BOC Clark seizes ecstasy; arrests claimant in Paranaque

admin October 5, 2022

A COMPOSITE team of law enforcers from the Bureau of Customs – Port of Clark, together with operatives from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), had seized 505 pieces of Methylenedioxymethamphetamine, commonly known as ecstasy, with an estimated value of P 858,500.00 and arrested its claimant in Parañaque City.

The illegal drugs were discovered in a shipment said to contain “beads in a bottle” which arrived on September 30 from Hoofddorp, Netherlands.

The same was marked for physical examination as it showed a suspicious image.

Physical examination was immediately conducted which resulted in the discovery of three (3) plastic jars containing 505 pieces of pink and gray tablets suspected to be ecstasy.

The said tablets underwent field testing which yielded a positive result for the presence of “Mixture of MDMA (Ecstasy) Cotton,” a controlled substance Amphetamine.

Representative samples were then taken and turned over to PDEA for chemical laboratory analysis which confirmed that the tablets are indeed Methylenedioxymethamphetamine or ecstasy, a dangerous drug under Republic Act (R.A.) No. 9165.

A warrant of Seizure and Detention was issued by District Collector Alexandra Lumontad for violation of Sections 118 (g), 119 (d), and 1113 par. f, i & l (3 & 4) of R.A. No. 10863 in relation to Section 4 of R.A. No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Controlled delivery operation was conducted by the joint elements of PDEA & BOC-Port of Clark on Oct. 4 in Parañaque City which led to the arrest of one (1) claimant. The BOC, under the leadership of Commissioner Yogi Filemon Ruiz and in support of the anti-illegal drug campaign of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr., vowed to remain consistent in reinforcing its measures to prevent the entry of dangerous drugs and other illegal substances into the country.
