THE Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) reported on Sunday that two Filipino fishermen were injured after the engine of their fishing boat exploded near Bajo de Masinloc or Scarborough Shoal on Saturday.
Based on the photos shared by PCG to members of the media, the damaged motor banca sank past 3 p.m. on Saturday.
Two vessels of the China Coast Guard were also spotted near the incident.
PCG spokesperson Rear Admiral Armand Balilo said they conducted rescue operations and gave medical attention to the injured fishers.
The PCG gave no further information about the explosion.
